IBM added a new, 56,000-square-foot, $30 million production floor to its Poughkeepsie plant in 2010 to manufacture the new computer. Altogether the zEnterprise System represents $1.5 billion in R&D investment for IBM and a three-year, 24-hour development cycle that spanned three continents and involved more than 5,000 IBMers working a total of 31 million hours.
